Moving receiver closer to tower causes an increase in signal, but a decrease in Q on the transmitter. There should be an optimal distance where power received, and power coupled back to the source equate to a maximum power transfer point with greatest efficiency. This video demonstrates both extremes, High Q, but low signal and low Q with high signal. It then shows the optimal spacing resulting in slightly reduced Q, with strong signal.
